Game Development Committee is a group of enthusiastic people focused on learning how to seamlessly create games and game engines for a variety of platforms. The people involved in this committee will learn the basics of game programming, game-based animation, and the creation of motion graphics in a computer system. This community was first created in the 2019/20 session under Kathmandu University Open Source Community (KUOSC) and Kathmandu University Computer Club (KUCC).
Yearly Regular Activities
1. Game Development Intro
Game Development Intro is a workshop and its main purpose is to provide brief knowledge about the major components of game development. The workshop consists of a short introduction to the components of game development and design, including, but not limited to, 3D graphics, gameplay mechanics, physics engines, gameAI and so on.
2. 3D Modelling and Graphics Workshop
This workshop will be conducted to provide a thorough understanding of 3D modeling and animation of game assets in Blender, and the creation of an OpenGL-based platform using C++. The participants will be instructed to install Blender and create models and animations.
3.Game Engine Development
After the 3D graphics and modelling workshops, certain eager participants will be made into a group.The participants will be instructed in the creation of a simple Game Engine. The Game Development Community members will be working in tandem with the participants to create the components of a game engine. This game engine can be a semester project for such a group, if the circumstances allow.
